The Kit

Everything pre-written.
You just customize.

Every Out of Office Labs kit gives you the documents, templates, and tools to launch a structured mentorship program in 30–60 days — for K–12 schools, colleges, Greek organizations, and school districts. No starting from scratch.

How It Works

From zero to launched
in four weeks.

Week 1

Get Oriented

Read the Program Handbook and Timeline. Understand the full program flow so you can explain it confidently to your team or advisory board. Takes 30–45 minutes.

Week 2

Customize Your Docs

Make copies of the key files and personalize them. Add your chapter name, set dates, customize the Welcome Letters and Event Invites. Takes 1–2 hours.

Week 3

Launch Outreach

Use the LinkedIn post template and email outreach templates to recruit 10–20 alumni. Expect 5–15 interested alumni who fill out the questionnaire.

Week 4

Run Your Kickoff

Lock in a date, send calendar invites using the Event Template, and run your kickoff with committed alumni and students. Momentum starts here.

What We've Learned

5 mistakes to avoid
before you launch.

01

Overthinking the launch

Don't wait for perfect. Send outreach this week with what you have. Done beats perfect every time in a first-semester program.

02

Generic mass emails

Personalize at least the first line. Mention a specific memory, game, or connection. The templates give you the structure — you add the personal touch.

03

No follow-up

70% of alumni will ignore the first message. Follow up 3–5 days later. The kit includes follow-up scripts so you're never starting from scratch.

04

Skipping the kickoff event

This is where momentum starts. Make it happen even if only 5 people show up. The energy from that first event carries the program forward.

05

Micromanaging pairs

Trust mentors and mentees to drive their own relationship. Your job is to facilitate and remove friction — not babysit. The kit builds that in.
